DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRACHIOPODA AND BIVALVES   Brachiopods have two valves which are different when seen from the side of the animal. The valves are symmetrical. The bivalves have two valves which are mirror images of each other from the side. The valves are symmetrical. Both Brachiopod and bivalves (Mollusca) have two major muscles within the shell to keep closed. They have which are called “adductor muscles”. The muscles contract to keep the two valves.
